2025 Reading Challenges
While my overall reading goal in 2025 is to read 52 books, I've decided to also participate in a second reading challenge this year.
Last year I participated in the challenges listed below:
2024 Audiobook Challenge
My goal: Socially Awkward (Don’t talk to me): 15-20 books. I listened to 47 audio books.
European Reading Challenge 2024
The idea is to read books by European authors or books set in European countries (no matter where the author comes from). The books can be anything – novels, short stories, memoirs, travel guides, cookbooks, biography, poetry, or any other genre. You can participate at different levels, but each book must be by a different author and set in a different country – it's supposed to be a tour. My goal: "Honeymooner" level, which means I planned to read at least 4 books from Europe. I met my goal.
So, what's up for 2025? Here is the challenge I'm hoping to tackle.
2025 Audiobook Challenge
I'm aiming for Socially Awkward (Don’t talk to me): 15-20 books.

Reading and Writing Goals 2025
This past year I had two reading and writing goals. I also participated in a couple of reading challenges.
Goals for 2024
- Writing: I was hoping to complete a children’s book draft and to publish and release a Bible study book.
- Reading: read a total of 52 books
How did I do?
- Writing: I did quite a bit of writing this past year. I published the book on 1 John and finished the draft of the children’s book.
- Reading: I exceeded my reading goal this year: I read 104 books!
Goals for 2025
- Writing: I have three writing projects in the works for 2025.
Project 1: A children’s book on Harold and Heather. I have talked a bit about this project before, but in August, I was finally able to finish my first draft of the story. I’m still working on finding an illustrator. My hope is that some of these details will come together in the next couple of months.
Project 2: A German-to-English theology translation project. Well, the first of two German-to-English translation projects. I recently translated a small portion of Philip Melanchthon’s works from German to English. I will be publishing my translation work in serial form on my blog in 2025 and then compile it into a short book that will be available on Kindle.
Project 3: A second German-to-English theology translation project! I’ve recently started translating Johannes Tauler’s sermons from German into English. I will start posting my translations on my blog in 2025 (after I finish the posts on Melanchthon). My current aim is to post one sermon a month. My end goal is eventually to compile all of them into a book as well. More details on that down the road.
- Reading: My plan is to read a total of 52 books this year. This was my goal for 2024, and I like it as a goal for 2025.
How about you? Any reading or writing goals for 2025?
