Cover Reveal: Elements of Life

As I announced earlier this year, my next book is going to be published later this year. It is a collection of poetry and is being released on August 4.

This collection explores the intersection of atomic precision and the infinite soul, weaving the rigid structure of the elements into the fluid tapestry of human experience. Through these verses, the fundamental laws of science become a new liturgy for understanding the quiet miracles of daily existence.

There is still time to join the launch team. You can do so here.

Also, I hope to be announcing preorder details and preorder bonuses soon! Keep checking back here or sign up for my newsletter to get the information in your inbox.

Announcing ...

As I mentioned briefly in my reading and writing goals for 2026, I am publishing a book of poetry later this year. I don’t have a release date yet, but I’m hoping it will be out in the world by the end of the summer.

This collection explores the intersection of atomic precision and the infinite soul, weaving the rigid structure of the elements into the fluid tapestry of human experience. Through these verses, the fundamental laws of science become a new liturgy for understanding the quiet miracles of daily existence. To keep up with announcements about my book, please check back here often or sign up for my newsletter. I will also be announcing details about my launch team in the near future.

For Sunrise Hope and Sunset Calm

For sunrise hope and sunset calm,
and all that lies between,
For all the sweetness and the balm
that is and that has been,
For comradeship for peace in strife,
and light on darkened days;
For work to do and strength for life
we sing our hymn of praise.

But O, we press far, far above
these gifts of pure delight,
And find in Thee, and in Thy love
contentment infinite.
O Lord, beloved, in whom are found
all joys of time and place,
What will it be when joy is crowned
by vision of Thy face?

Music

Music swirls around me
From speakers, from headsets,
From the choir I’m in,
From the church congregation singing.

Music flows out of me:
My hands dance over piano keys,
My fingers pluck guitar strings,
My voice picks up the chorus.

Music evokes so much.
It transports me instantly to
A particular time and place.
My childhood, my teen years,
Every part of my life is marked by its own soundtrack.

Geraniums and Pansies

Geraniums in bright reds and pinks
Peaking out from brilliant green leaves
Cheerfully greet me from my window.

Quiet pansies in blues and purples,
Yellows and oranges
Add their rainbow to my garden.

Simple flowers in simple pots
Bring their joyful colors to my life
Swaying gently in the breeze.

A History of Writing

Cuneiform. Clay tablets.
The beginnings of the written word.
Man makes his mark, a record preserved.
Shopping lists. Royal decrees.
A student hard at work.
Legal codes. Official correspondence.

Thin sheets of leaves pressed together.
Ink carefully mixed. Scrolls. Codices.
Parchment. Vellum.
Sacred texts. Every-day life.
Man records his life and his time.
Stories. Plays. Epics. Wars.
Libraries are built to house the knowledge.

Scribes. Monks. Archivists.
Scriptoria. Illuminated texts.
Words and art are melded together,
Harmoniously supporting each other.

Moveable type. Printing presses.
Access to knowledge explodes.
Paper. Books. Reading.
The masses hunger to know more.

Newspapers. Serialized stories.
Man records the heights of glory and the heights of folly.
Ideas and ideologies flow and are spread.
Who controls the narrative?
Who controls what is printed?

Another technology awakens.
No longer physical, but something more ethereal.
More books. More stories. More knowledge than ever before.
At our fingertips, more information than any library has ever held.

And yet, the act of recording still harkens back to its first roots.
Shopping lists. Records of our days.
Governmental decrees. Stories. Plays.
Epics. Wars. Students practicing.
Man leaves his mark.
But, how will it be unearthed in the future?

Shadows

Shadows.
Between light and darkness.
Twilight. Dawn. Gloaming. Shifting shadows.

There is something about the end of day,
The start to a new day.
Transitions can be hard,
But we experience this transition twice a day.
As our planet furiously rotates around itself,
We mark the passing of time.
Day in, day out.
Sunrise, sunset.

Dusk and dawn.
Not quite day yet, not quite night.
Here in the in-between, we pause.
We remember to count our days.
We remember to be grateful for the breath we draw.

As our planet hurtles on, so do we.
But for a moment, we paused in the shadows.
